100th ODI Cap For Captain:

As the players warm up, the New Zealand skipper has just been presented with his 100th ODI cap by their centurion from the opening ODI, Martin Guptill. Pleasant beginning to the morning. He would so want this 100th game to be a memorable one for his team.

Drizzle Delays Toss:

Not the best of news but not totally disheartening as well. Not spitting rain right now and the umpires will inspect the conditions in a wee bit. We are being told that play can still start on time, meaning there's not much to worry about right now.

Inspection at 1.50 Local time, i.e 8.20 AM IST

Build Up:

A very good morning to one and all. We are minutes away from the toss of the all important match between the Trans-Tasman rivals in Canberra. In a short three-match series like this, losing the first game brings you very quickly to the brink of a series loss and New Zealand would be aware of the repercussions of how one tiny error can ruin their chances. Australia would push themselves hard to finish off the series here itself, without thinking of the cushion of the third match.

Steven Smith would be a very confident man, coming into this game on the back of a match-winning, career-best score of 164. The tourists would hope that there are more Guptill like performances today.

Do we have a series leveler on our hands? If that is what it turns out to be, the energies would be even more vibrant for the next game. As of now, let's not allow our focus to shift from Canberra. I'm Shirshendu Roy and will be there with you throughout the course of the game. To participate in discussions with us on this space, send in your tweets to me @Shirsh9
