Bhuvneshwar, Rahul to prove fitness through Ranji Trophy

Bhuvneshwar Kumar and KL Rahul will be participating in the next round of Ranji Trophy which starts on Sunday (November 13), according to an ESPNcricinfo report.

Playing for Uttar Pradesh, Bhuvneshwar's first-class comeback will be against Mumbai in Mysuru. On the other hand, Rahul will returning against Rajasthan in Vizianagaram, according to Karnataka coach J Arun Kumar.

Both the players have been out of action for about a month, missing chunks of the series against New Zealand. Rahul pulled up his hamstring and missed the last two Tests versus New Zealand, and Bhuvneshwar succumbed to a back strain to be ruled out of the third Test in Indore.

With the team for the first two Tests against England been decided upon already, both of them will be eager to prove their match fitness and get themselves into the reckoning for the last three Tests.

They already have recent good form to back their candidacies: Rahul scored 236 runs across three innings in India's recent tour of West Indies while Bhuvneshwar picked up a five-wicket haul in the 2nd Test at the Eden Gardens, the last Test he played before his injury.
