Amit Mishra to play for Haryana in Ranji Trophy seventh round

Amit Mishra is set to play for Haryana against Goa in the Ranji Trophy clash in Ghaziabad starting Monday (November 21) after he was released from the Indian Test squad. The move comes as an opportunity for the 33-year-old to make a case for his inclusion in the playing eleven ahead of the next England Test in Mohali.

Mishra was dropped from the playing XI of the ongoing Visakhapatnam Test in favour of debutant Jayant Yadav. Mishra returned match figures of 3 for 152 in the first Test in Rajkot and went on to admit that he didn't bowl as well as we would have liked.

"I wouldn't say I bowled very well. It did take time for me to get my rhythm, especially since I was playing a Test after a long time. I was on the bench for two Tests in the West Indies and then sat out for the New Zealand Test series. Also, I was coming off from the ODI series so the transition from ODIs to Tests did take some time. But, I believe there was improvement in my bowling in the second innings and I bowled better," Mishra had told BCCI.tv.

The Indian team management have already released Gautam Gambhir and he'll be playing for Delhi against Assam in Waynad. The Delhi squad also consists of Shikhar Dhawan, who will look to prove his fitness and return to the Test squad as the third opener.

The third test in Mohali begins November 26.
