South Africa end on 361 for 6

Live Cricket Score of South Africa vs Australia, 2nd ODI at Johannesburg

The carnival of fours and sixes continued at Johannesburg and the South Africans annihilated the Australian bowling attack yet again to set them a target of 362. The Aussies made a couple of changes to their line up and handed debuts to Joe Mennie and Chris Tremain but the beginner's luck also deserted them and Smith's dilemma knew no bounds as the runs continued to come thick and fast. Back to back wickets of Duminy and Faf du Plessis at the back end of the innings provided some respite before fireworks from Miller met a premature end. South Africa added only 65 runs in the last 8 overs. Perhaps a stronger end could have got them closer to 380. The chase unfurls in 30 minutes...

Skipper departs:

Australia are slowly making their way back into the game. Soon after JP Duminy was bowled, courtesy an inside edge, Faf du plessis holed out to Steve Smith at deep mid wicket. Two new batsmen at the crease. Hosts have crossed the 300-run mark.

Duminy falls:

JP Duminy's brutal innings comes to an end at 82. With that, the massive 150-run stand between the southpaw and skipper Faf du Plessis also comes to end, allowing Australia to pull things back a bit in the death. A few more wickets will work well for the tourists at the moment. David Miller has come out to bat.

100 for du Plessis

Faf's love for Australia continues. It is his third ODI hundred against them and sixth overall. The Wanderers crowd are on their feet applauding the knock. Faf himself is thrilled with the innings. Had his hands aloft as soon as he placed it in the gap. Takes off his helmet and soaks in the applause with the raise of the bat. Duminy congratulates his skipper. Coming to the ball: Back of a length just outside off, punched square on the off-side away from sweeper cover.

South Africa 264 for 2 in 40 overs.

50 for du Plessis now

23rd ODI fifty for the South African captain. South Africa need someone to carry on and get a big one. Both Rossouw and de Kock have thrown away their wicket but in good batting conditions, the hosts need du Plessis to set a platform for the likes of Miller and Duminy.

South Africa 158 for 2 in 26 overs.

Wicket: Rossouw falls for 75

Not to be! No century for Rossouw. A slower good length delivery, Rossouw tries to fetch it from outside off and only manages to top edge it for the man at deep backward square to take an easy skier. He wanted to bludgeon it but was too early into the shot and hence the ball scaled a lot of height but was devoid of distance. Australia have finally got a small opening.

South Africa 147 for 2.

50 for Rossouw

So after 63 in the first game, Rossown has notched up another 50. He'll be eager to convert this into a big one considering the beautiful batting conditions. South Africa have reached 74 for 1 after 13.

Painful blow

Faf du Plessis is on the ground and is yelping in pain. Finch had a shy at the bowler's end and instead smacks one straight into du Plessis. Coming to the ball, this was full and just outside off, punched past short cover and du Plessis hares across for a quick single, it turns out to be a painful one. He was trying to take evasive action, put his hands in front and cops a painful blow, right at the bowler's end of the thumb.

Wicket: De Kock falls

There's the first wicket. John Hastings has struck. De Kock looks distraught at his bat after holing out to mid-on. This was a good length delivery outside off, de Kock was looking to hoist it back over the bowler's head, gets it right off the toe-end, ends up lobbing it in the air and it's a simple catch to Tremain, back pedaling from mid-on. A much needed wicket for Australia, the centurion from the first match has to depart.

South Africa 70 for 1.

End of Powerplay

South Africa have begun really really well here. Both de Kock and Rossouw have played out the bowlers with ease. South Africa have cruised to 66 for no loss after ten.

Australia have decided to start with the debutants with the ball.Nothing really much in the pitch for the bowlers from the early signs. Let's see how things pan out. South Africa 16 for no loss after two.

Alright then, Tremain to bowl, Quinton de Kock to face, Rillee Rossouw is with him and we are all set for this cracking contest to begin ...

Australia opt to bowl

Joe Mennie and Chris Tremain will make their ODI debuts today. Former left-arm pacer Brendon Julian presented their respective caps.

Teams:

South Africa: Quinton de Kock(w), Rilee Rossouw, Faf du Plessis(c), Jean-Paul Duminy, David Miller, Farhaan Behardien, Wayne Parnell, Andile Phehlukwayo, Kagiso Rabada, Dale Steyn, Imran Tahir

Australia: David Warner, Aaron Finch, Steven Smith(c), George Bailey, Mitchell Marsh, Travis Head, Matthew Wade(w), John Hastings, Adam Zampa, Chris Tremain, Joe Mennie

Quick stat

Can you guess?

Should be a cracker!

After the Mortal Kombat meted out to the Aussies by Quinton De Kock, South Africa would try to pin them further on the mat with another clinical display. The first ODI was a one-man show and with so many match winners in both the sides, a similar script for the second one cannot be ruled out. To fortify things for the South Africans, Hashim Amla might return to the side. Australia on the other hand have plenty of problems to fix in their bowling department. Johannesburg has always been a belter of a batting wicket and the paradise for the batsmen will remain the same. Toss and other updates in a wee bit...
