Morgan Hales In The Selection Mix for India tour

Andrew Strauss England and Wales Cricket Boards director of cricket, said that Eoin Morgan and Alex Hales won't face repercussions after the duo pulled out of the tour to Bangladesh, citing security concerns. He further added that he expects both cricketers to return for the forthcoming limited-overs leg of England's tour to India.

"Right from the start we said there are not going to be any recriminations," Strauss told BBC Radio Five Live's Sportsweek programme on Sunday (September 18).

"It's not like these guys are going to be blacklisted and their names will not be put forward for selection. They absolutely will be."

The former England captain praised Morgan for transforming England's fortunes in the shorter versions of the game, but stopped short of guaranteeing his place in the side. "Both have done outstanding jobs for England over the last 12 months, especially Morgan whose captaining has been sensational.

"Of course, we can't give any guarantees because the situation might change on the ground in Bangladesh. Someone might come in and do unbelievably well, but the intention is for Eoin to come back in as captain and Alex will be in the mix for selection as well."

After the Dhaka attack that took place at Holey Artisan Bakery in Gulshan Thana on July 1, the ECB had formed a three-member panel led by Reg Dickason to evaluate the security arrangements for the tour. Only after the three-member delegation assured that it was safe to tour the Asian country, the ECB decided to go ahead with the trip. Despite assurances from the board, Hales and Morgan withdrew from the series.

Strauss revealed his disappointment over Hales and Morgan's decision to pull out of the tour, but he pointed out that both cricketers showed maturity while dealing with the situation.

"They were both very mature in the way they went about this," Strauss said. "They took everything in and didn't rush into a decision, but ultimately it came down to them not feeling comfortable about going to Bangladesh.

"I would have loved us to be in a situation where the whole team made a combined decision to say 'let's go together'. We didn't get to that situation and that's a shame. But at the same time every human being is different and sees the world differently. They made their decision for what they see as the right reasons and we'll go on without them."
