Australia A take series 1-0 after washout on Day 4

The second four-day match between Australia A and India A at the Allan Border Field has ended in a draw after play was abandoned without a ball being bowled on Day 4 on Sunday (September 18).

Australia A won the series after winning the opening fixture by three wickets at the same venue one week ago. Western Australian allrounder Hilton Cartwright was named man-of-the-match after scoring 117 in Australia A's first innings total of 435. It was the only hundred scored in the series.

India A finished day three at 158 for four with Akhil Herwadkar (82 not out) and Sanju Samson (34 not out) combining to thwart Australia A's late push for victory. The visitors trailed by 108 runs but persistent rain in Brisbane meant no play was possible on the final day of the winter series.

After a competitive contest in the opening match, India A were on the back foot from the first session where they lost five wickets and could only muster a disappointing first-innings total of 169, a score propped up by an impressive 79 by Hardik Pandya.

However, the fighting spirit of Herwadkar and Samson late on day three combined with Brisbane's inclement weather ensured India A finished the tour with some respectability.
