Gloucestershire re-sign Andrew Tye for Natwest T20 Blast 2017
Gloucestershire Cricket confirmed on Thursday (December 15) that they have re-signed Andrew Tye, the Australia seamer, to play in the Natwest Twenty20 Blast in 2017. The announcement came on the back of a string of inspiring performances from the 30-year-old paceman as he finished with 18 wickets from 14 games in the 2016 edition, helping his club reach the quarter-final of the tournament after topping the South Group.
Tye, who plays for Perth Scorchers in Australia's premier T20 tournament, Big Bash League (BBL), said, "I'm delighted to be returning to Gloucestershire again in 2017. It's a great club with a lot of good people and I thoroughly enjoyed last season. I'm looking forward to contributing again to the club's T20 campaign and hopefully, we can build on last season and go all the way to win the trophy in 2017."
Reacting to the same, Richard Dawson, Head Coach of Gloucestershire, added, "It's great to have AJ [Andrew Tye] back for the T20 competition in 2017. He was a valuable player in 2016 for us and helped us get to the Quarter-Final making some outstanding individual contributions along the way in the group matches."
Tye has also featured in three Twenty20 Internationals (T20Is) for Australia, having made his debut against India at Melbourne, earlier this year. The domestic T20 tournament is set to kick off on July 7 when Yorkshire lock horns with Nottinghamshire at Headingley.
