Christian re-signs with Nottinghamshire for 2017 T20 blast
Daniel Christian, the Australian allrounder, will be returning to Nottinghamshire for the 2017 Natwest T20 Blast, the club confirmed on Wednesday (December 21). Christian had a prolific time with the bat for the club in the 2016 competition as he finished the second-highest run-getter for his side with over 300 runs scored at an average of almost 41.

Christian stood out with his blind hitting and a high strike rate (159.50) that he maintained throughout the tournament. The Australia hit as many as 23 sixes, helping the team win nine matches on the trot in the lead up to their semifinal.

"Dan is an explosive player who hits the ball miles and played really well for us last year," said Peter Moores, the head coach. "He's also been around the T20 scene and around cricket for a long time. He brings all that experience to us, as well as a real calmness under pressure.

"He's a great character to have around and that competitive nature that you find in a lot of Australians is certainly in him. He gives everything and expects the same from his teammates. He likes to get on the front foot, to be aggressive and to play attacking cricket, which is exactly what we want in that form of the game."

Christian, who hasn't played for Australia since April 2014, is currently plying his trade in the Big Bash League for Hobart Hurricanes.
