Tsolekile charged with assaulting minor boy

Thami Tsolekile, former South African wicketkeeper-batsman, landed himself in further trouble after being arrested for allegedly assaulting an unidentified 14-year old minor student.

Tsolekile was arrested last Thursday (September 8) after being accused of being involved in an incident with a minor boy near Pinelands High School, Cape Town.

The former South African wicketkeeper-batsman, who was recently banned from the sport for 12 years after being found guilty of attempting to fix matches during the 2015 edition of the RamSlam T20 competition, denied the charges and instead accused the minor boy of pelting stones at his car.

Tsolikele was formally charged with common assault at the Goodwood Magistrates Court on Tuesday (September 13), the former keeper's first public appearance since being arrested on September 8th, according to the prosecution lawyer, Moosa Adonis.

Tsolikele was charged with assault but was released from police custody without having to secure bail. With investigations still ongoing, the case has now been postponed to October 10th at the request of the prosecution lawyer
