Kotla ODI postponed by a day: Reports
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has decided to postpone the upcoming third One-Day International between India and New Zealand at the Feroz Shah Kotla Stadium in New Delhi by a day.
As per reports on Thursday (September 8), CK Khanna has confirmed that the change of the match date was due to Karva Chauth, a festival celebrated with pomp and show in the northern parts of India.
The Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA) had earlier written to the BCCI stating the challenges of hosting a match on the festival day, citing ticket sales that would take a hit. As per PTI, the BCCI has accepted the request and postponed the match by a day, from October 19 to October 20.
"We are thankful to BCCI for accepting our request of shifting the date by a day. I have received a letter of acknowledgement for the same from BCCI office," Khanna, DDCA vice president, was quoted as saying by PTI.
New Zealand are scheduled to play three Tests followed by five ODIs on their tour to India that kicks off on September 22 in Kanpur.
