BCCI Announces Associate And Affiliate Squad For Vinoo Mankad Trophy

The Board of Control for Cricket in India's (BCCI) Junior Selection Panel chaired by Venkatesh Prasad picked a 15-man Associate and Affiliate Under-19 squad for the forthcoming Vinoo Mankad One-Day Zonal League (East Zone) Trophy, scheduled to be held in Dhanbad.

Rohit Shah, Meghalaya's wicketkeeper-batsman, will captain the set-up. Shashi Anand, the 19-year-old slow left-arm orthodox bowler from Bihar, has been appointed as the vice-captain.

We at the BCCI are committed towards uplifting the Affiliate and Associate States. In a quest to do so, we are constantly working towards providing them with the right platform, facilities, exposure and opportunity, thereby paving a way for the mainstream," Anurag Thakur was earlier quoted as saying by the bcci.tv.

"This initiative marks another step in this direction and we hope that this will ensure that the right talent meets opportunity and more number of youngsters get motivated and take up cricket as a sport."

The Associate and Affiliate side will play their first game against Assam on October 2.
